A primary care provider (PCP) helps keep you healthy through routine care, detects problems early, and coordinates specialist care when needed.
Primary care covers routine check-ups, screenings, vaccinations, diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses, chronic disease management, and referrals to specialists.
An annual physical is important to ensure that you are up to date with all your recommended screening tests and immunizations. Performing these tests will allow us to identify any underlying medical conditions you may have which can often be managed and/or corrected before they cause long-term damage to your body. Dr. Bazerbashi and our team of Nurse Practitioners work to stay up-to-date on many new screening tests and we will be happy to provide you with information regarding the risk/benefit of every test we may recommend for you.
Your follow up will depend on many factors including your health status, age, and current medical conditions. If you have chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension and asthma, you may need more frequent follow-ups. If you’re on new medications or recently had an abnormal test, follow-up is usually sooner. If you are experiencing new or worsening symptoms, you should schedule a visit right away instead of waiting for your next routine check.
